Laboratory Details:-

The Medical Lab Technology department consists of following labs:

1 Hematology Lab:-

This Laboratory includes two sub units viz coagulation studies and blood banking.

In this laboratory students perform wide range of tests using advanced technology for diagnosis of hematological diseaeses and disorders. Students are trained to perform automated and manual analysis of whole blood in paticular and other bodyfluids in general to investigate paramters such as full blood counts, microscope examination of blood films. Range of stains are performed on Blood films to study various cells under microscope.

Major equipments on which students work in this laboratory are High Precision Microscopes monocular and binocular waterbaths etc.

2  Clinical Microbiology Lab:

This lab encompasses five different sciences viz Bacteriology,Virology,Parasitology, Immunology and Mycology.

In this Laboratory students are trained to perform testing for a full range of human pathogens including aerobic & anaerobic bacteria, yeast and modulus etc. Techniques used include culture from a wide variety of specimen, special stains direct antigen detection extra. Once isolated and identified antibiotic susceptibility testing testing is performed on bacteria & antifungal susceptibility test on yeast.

Major equipments on which students work are incubator,Hot air Oven, Colony Counter, Digital Balance, High Precision Microscope Semi automatic and manually operated auto claves etc

3 Clinical Biochemistry

This laboraory includes section like enzymology, toxicology and Endocrinology.

Students in this lab are trained to perform instrumental analysis of blood components such as serum and plasma and other body fluids. Major equipments on which students work in this laboratory are semi automatic bio chemistry analyzer, photochlorimeter centrifuge, potentiometers,Ph metrs, waterbaths, digital balances, electrophoresis apparatus,  thin laser cloromatography apparatus.

4 Histopathology and cytology lab

This laboratory has two major sections viz histopathology and cytology. In this lab the students are made to understand the fundamentals of histopathology and cytology.Students learn about different types of microscopes and their principles with practical handling of various microscopes.

Students perform fixation of various tissues and understand the impact of fixation, perform tissue processing leading to microtomy.Different histological and cytological stains are performed to identify nature of tissues and cells.

Major equipments on which students work are micromtromes, tissue flotation baths, monocular and binocular microscopes, automatic tissue processor, paraffin dispenser
