Principal's Message
From Principal’s Desk

Dear Students, Parents, and Well-Wishers,

Polytechnics stand as the bedrock of our nation’s progress, contributing significantly to the development of a skilled technical workforce. Over the years, the landscape of Polytechnics in Jammu and Kashmir has evolved, bringing diploma-level Engineering and Technology Courses to the doorstep of aspirants at more affordable costs. This transformative shift has opened up avenues for individuals from diverse backgrounds to explore careers in Engineering and Technology, democratizing education that was once considered exclusive.

The dynamic field of technology is rapidly evolving, with emerging trends like Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, Cyber Security, Digital Manufacturing, and 3D Printing reshaping industries. To meet the demands of the competitive market, we must align our courses with these advancements. The industry seeks not just qualified individuals but market-ready professionals, and our role is to bridge this gap. This calls for robust Industry-Institute Linkages, creating a symbiotic relationship that benefits both sectors.

Institutions cannot exist in isolation; instead, they must actively engage with industries, offering solutions to real-world technical challenges and supplying customized technical talent. The declining admissions in Engineering Courses indicate a need for stronger connections between academia and industry. Both entities must collaborate, fostering an ecosystem that supports mutual growth and success.

At Govt. Polytechnic for Women, Srinagar, we take pride in being the exclusive institute in the valley dedicated to the technical education of women. Beyond our regular three-year diploma programs, we offer short-term courses, empowering women with essential skill sets. Initiatives such as the Skill Development Initiative (SDI) and Continuing Education Program (CEP) provide diverse opportunities for skill enhancement.

Our commitment to excellence is underscored by the recognition of receiving the ‘Best Polytechnic Award’ in 2005 and 2013 from the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh. This acknowledgment inspires us to continually strive for higher levels of achievement and excellence.

In a rapidly changing technological landscape, our focus is on enhancing the Teaching-Learning Processes, delivering knowledge seamlessly through offline-online modes, and creating an environment that fosters innovation. We understand the importance of staying relevant and addressing industry needs, and our collaborations with esteemed organizations like SKIMS Medical College, Government Press Srinagar, Alliance Infotech, and others reflect our commitment to real-world exposure for our students.

As we move forward, Govt. Polytechnic for Women, Srinagar, commits itself to the upliftment and progress of women at all levels in the state. Our aim is not just to produce skilled technicians but to nurture empowered individuals ready to contribute to industry, business, and society at large.

Thank you for being part of our journey towards excellence.

Warm regards,

Mohammad Shafi Bhat
