Established in 1986, Government Polytechnic for Women, Srinagar is a premier technical institute in Jammu and Kashmir, exclusively dedicated to empowering women through quality education. Recognized for its academic excellence, the institute has been honored with the prestigious ‘Best Polytechnic Award’ twice by NITTTR, Chandigarh (2005 & 2013)—a testament to its leadership in technical education across North India. Offering three-year diploma programs in eight engineering/non-engineering courses. To foster innovation and entrepreneurship, the institute has established incubation centers in Food Technology and Garment Technology, with several startups currently in accelerated development. Over the years, the landscape of polytechnic education in Jammu and Kashmir has undergone a remarkable transformation, making diploma-level Engineering and Technology courses more accessible and affordable. This evolution has empowered countless aspirants from diverse backgrounds to pursue careers in Engineering and Technology, breaking down barriers to education that were once considered exclusive.
In today’s fast-paced world, technology is advancing at an unprecedented rate. Emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, Cyber Security, Digital Manufacturing, and 3D Printing are revolutionizing industries. To keep pace with these changes, it is imperative that our courses align with the latest industry trends. The modern workforce demands not just qualified individuals but industry-ready professionals, and it is our responsibility to bridge this gap. This necessitates strong Industry-Institute Linkages, fostering a symbiotic relationship that benefits both academia and industry.

The recent decline in admissions to Engineering courses highlights the urgent need for stronger ties between academia and industry. By working together, we can create an ecosystem that supports mutual growth and success.

This recognition serves as a testament to our commitment to excellence and motivates us to strive for even greater achievements.
