New Awareness Programme on India Skills Competition 2026–28

Srinagar, September 1, 2026: An awareness programme on the India Skills Competition 2026–28 was conducted today at Government Polytechnic for Women, Srinagar, with the aim of sensitising students about the prestigious skills competition and encouraging their active participation.The programme was conducted in compliance with the directions of the J&K Skill Development Mission (JKSDM) for extensive awareness generation, identification and mobilisation of talented candidates for participation in the competition.Ms. Kahkashan Anjum from NSDC and Mr. Tabassum Geelani from J&K Skill Development Mission interacted with the students and apprised them about the India Skills Competition, its various skill areas, eligibility criteria, registration process and the opportunities available to participants at the State, National and International levels.The resource persons highlighted that the India Skills Competition, popularly regarded as the “Skill Olympics”, provides a prestigious platform for young skilled professionals to demonstrate their practical competencies, gain recognition and exposure, receive industry mentorship and enhance their career prospects.More than 100 students of the Institute participated in the awareness programme with keen interest and enthusiasm. Er. Imtiaz Ahmad Shaw, Principal, Government Polytechnic for Women, Srinagar, along with the faculty members and staff of the Institute, also participated in the programme and extended their support towards the initiative.

The Principal encouraged the students to identify their areas of skill and make full use of the opportunity by registering for suitable competition categories. He also appreciated the efforts of the officials from NSDC and JKSDM in creating awareness among the students and promoting skill excellence.The Institute remains committed to facilitating maximum participation of its talented students in the India Skills Competition 2026–28 and promoting a culture of skill development, innovation and excellence among the youth.The last date for registration is September 15, 2026.
