New Awareness Session on Women’s Heart Health

Srinagar 09 September 2026: Today a health awareness session titled “Women Health Matters: Preventing Heart Disease from a Young Age” was held at LRUC Government Polytechnic for Women Srinagar. The talk was delivered by Dr. Udheath Dhir, Principal Director of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery and Head of Heart Transplant at Fortis Hospital, Gurugram.

Dr. Dhir highlighted the rising incidence of cardiovascular disease among younger women and stressed early prevention through healthy lifestyle choices. Key points included the importance of regular physical activity, balanced diet, maintaining healthy weight, managing stress, controlling blood pressure and diabetes, and avoiding tobacco. He also explained how symptoms of heart disease can present differently in women and urged timely medical check-ups and awareness of personal risk factors.

The session concluded with a lively Q&A, where students and staff asked about screening timelines, dietary recommendations, and ways to support family members at risk.
